The Government of Terengganu
Terengganu Darul Iman was ruled by a king and assisted by Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) and his exco members.
The current reigning monarch are His Royal Highness Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah and his consort Her Royal Highness Tuanku Nur Zahirah.
The current Chief Minister for Terengganu is Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Ahmad bin Said.
State and District Flags
State flag of Terengganu
The white background represent His Majesty the King. The white background surrounds a black background representing the people thus meaning that the King is responsible for protecting and caring for his people. The crescent moon and star represent the state religion that is Islam.
District flag of Kuala Terengganu
Yellow represents as the state capital of Terengganu and the royal city of Kuala Terengganu where the King and his family resides. It also represent as the main district in the state.
District flag of Kemaman
Dark blue represent as the main economic factor of the district which are petroleum, gas and petroleum related industry.
District flag of Marang
Dark purple represent as the restoration of people's unity.
District flag of Setiu
Brown represent as maximum effort of the people to built settlements.
District flag of Hulu Terengganu
Orange represent as the courage and hardworking people.
District flag of Besut
Red represent as the development of the state and energy infrastructure.
District flag of Dungun
Light blue represent as the district main economic drive which are fishery and tourism.
State Insignia
State Insignia was created in the time of Al-marhum Sultan Zainal Abidin III. The insignia was created by several dignitary of state. It was drawn by Mr. Mohamad bin Abdul Rahim, relative to Dato' Nara Wangsa (Dato' Mata-Mata) and the insignia was approved in the State Assembly in 1932 for official use.
The Al-Quran at right represent as the official state religion that is Islam.
The Law Book at left represent as justice.
The crescent moon and star represent as Islamic state.
The long sword, long Kris and scepters represent as the state regalia.
The crown represent royal reign in Terengganu.
Wali or Selampai represent as official state ceremonial decoration.
Each of these tools and regalia were circled and inside were three separated Malay letters which are "Jawatan Kerajaan Terengganu (Office of Terengganu Government)". In the reign of Al-marhum Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, one more state regalia was added which is scepter and the word "Jawatan Kerajaan" were deleted while "Terengganu" was retained.
